Last summer, my wife and I spent a week+ driving California's Big Sur coast on Highway 1, which hugs cliffs and mountains overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Charcoal Drawing


Photographer tries drawing...

July 2007 we spent our honeymoon in Aruba. The month following I took classes towards my Master's degree in Visual Arts Education at SUNY New Paltz.

Having little drawing experience, and in a roomful of non-photographer artists, I felt humbled, and motivated. My esteemed drawing professor Chris, a talented artist with amazing technical skills, prodded me to push the envelope and create a drawing of my very own, based on multiple references. After much praise from my fellow artists, and successes from previous drawings, I felt inspired!

The resulting charcoal drawing existed in my memory of our honeymoon beach, but moreso it doesn't necessarily exist, except on paper...
